New Order gig thrills fans

New Order returned to Manchester for the first time in four years on Friday 10th September. They performed to around 35,000 people at Heaton Park

The band's incredible back catalogue was evident on the night. They delighted fans with a setlist of songs spanning several decades. This included classic crowd-pleasers such as Blue Monday, True Faith and Temptation.

As the show came to a close, the band disappeared momentarily. The crowd quickly called for their return. They repeated Love Will Tear Us Apart'.

The encore was a trio of Joy Division songs. This started with Decades which slows down the pace while the face of former Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis, who took his own life in 1980, appeared behind the band.

One of the support acts on the night was the equally cool Hot Chip. They also thrilled fans with their unique style of performance and song.

Everyone we spoke to after the gig seemed to have an incredible time and it was great to see different areas of Greater Manchester buzzing. This would have only extended once Parklife festival had started.

One fan on YouTube said in response to the video we shared at the top of this story: "Thanks for recording and uploading this, seeing this song played live was one of the best gig moments of my life. Long live New Order."

Another added: "Such a wicked atmosphere last night. New Order killed it. Top gig."

How great is that picture?
