What's going on across Greater Manchester? August Bank Holiday update

It's been another busy weekend across Greater Manchester with a lot of things going on. Let's take a look!

We've had Pride Weekend bringing together party goers from all over the country and wins in the football for United, City, Oldham and Wigan. We'll also look at what has been keeping Greater Manchester Police busy!

Manchester Pride Festival 2021

Manchester Pride's annual festival made a return to the city this weekend, after a summer of scaled-back celebrations last year.

The party kicked off in the Gay Village on Friday night. Thousands threw on the glitter and danced in the streets long into the night.

Man arrested after pedestrian hit by a car in Manchester

Police were called to Ashton Old Road in Openshaw, just before 3am on Sunday 29th August to reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

Emergency services attended, and found a 21-year-old man had been seriously injured. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. 

An 18-year-old man has been arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving under the influence of drugs. He remains in custody for questioning.

United and City win

Both United and City picked up three points over the weekend. Man City thrashed  a woeful Arsenal 5-0 on Saturday and on Sunday afternoon, United picked up a hard fought three points against Wolves. You can read more on Greater Manchester Football

Elsewhere, there were wins for Bolton and Wigan in League One. Oldham Athletic then picked up their first win of the season. You can some of the highlights from that game by watching the video below.
