GMP Press Release: Two people have been arrested after three men were stabbed during Piccadilly Gardens altercation

At around 10.50pm on Thursday 28 May 2021, police were made aware by the council of a disturbance at Piccadilly Gardens.

Enquiries have established that a group of people were fighting with knives.

Officers attended and identified three men - aged between 23 and 31 - who had injuries consistent with stab wounds.

Two of the men were taken to hospital with serious injuries and the third man was taken to hospital with minor injuries. All three men remain there for treatment.

This is believed to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public.

Two males - aged 17 and 18 - have been arrested on suspicion of assault. They remain in custody for questioning.

Chief Inspector David Henthorne, Force Critical Incident Manager for GMP, said: "Three men are in hospital as a result of this shocking incident in which a group of men, who were wielding knives engaged in an altercation.
