Ruben Dias has capped a superb first season at Manchester City by being named as the 2021 Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year.
The Manchester City defender topped the prestigious poll of the 400-strong FWA membership.
He is the first defender to win the award since Steve Nicol back in 1989 and has become the third player to win the FWA award in their first season in England.
The Portuguese international has been superb form for his club since joining them from Benfica last September.
Dias beat likes of Harry Kane and Bruno Fernandes to win the award.
