The countdown is on for a group of firefighters from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), who have been gearing up for months to tackle their latest charity fundraising event.
Gorton firefighter will begin the Caledonian Canal trek on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 - when firefighters from all watches at the Manchester based station will be kayaking 100km, from coast-to-coast, across the Caledonian Canal in Scotland.
The challenge will last three days, and the route firefighters will take includes the famous Loch Ness.

GMFRS Crew Manager Pete Fitzpatrick, White Watch Gorton, said:
“Following White Watch’s fundraising efforts last year for HideOut Youth Zone, firefighters from all watches at Gorton are ready to kayak from Fort William to Inverness, taking on some of Scotland’s deepest lochs – including the Loch Ness.
“The route is known as the Great Glen and we will kayak for three days staring on June 15, to raise money for The Fire Fighter’s Charity and Prostate Cancer UK.”
