Rugby League news: Salford thrash Castleford Tigers

Salford Red Devils scored 12 tries as they thrashed Castleford Tigers

Castleford were protecting a number of first team players for the Challenge Cup final. They were 22-6 down at half-time and quickly tired after the break.

The win means that Salford now sit in 10th in the Super League. They will be hoping that this win gives them some confidence in their bid to climb the table.

The Salford Reds coach told the BBC after the match:

"It was a real professional performance, albeit against an under-strength and youthful Castleford team.

"You've still got to execute your plays and be disciplined, and I thought we ticked those boxes. We didn't have it all our own way. The first 20 minutes were a see-saw battle.

"We had to come through a tough week. We started it with six players in training and we had literally 17 today, nothing more than that."

The 'Man Of The Match' went to Chris Atkin. The Salford Reds twitter account described his performance as 'standing.
