Man held on suspicion of attempted murder at Middleton shopping centre
Detectives in Rochdale have arrested a man on suspicion of the attempted murder of a security guard at Middleton shopping centre earlier this month.
On Tuesday 24th August afternoon, officers arrested a 19-year-old man in Derbyshire.
He remains in custody to be questioned by investigators from Rochdale CID about the attempted murder of a 42-year-old man, who has since been discharged from hospital.
It relates to reports of a stabbing at around 12.50pm on Saturday 14 August at Middleton shopping centre, where the victim was working as a security guard when he suffered five serious stab wounds.

Knife-wielding man in Stockport medical centre jailed for over three years
A man who attempted to take staff hostage in a medical centre and swung a meat cleaver at a woman has been jailed.
Michael Brannigan (30/08/1970), from Stockport, was sentenced to over three years imprisonment after pleading guilty to four counts of possession of an offensive weapon, robbery, criminal damage, assault by beating and affray.
At around 12.20pm on Friday 12 March 2021, officers received a report of an assault that had occurred on Oldham Drive, Woodley.

FA Cup: Avro FC knocked out after losing to Runcorn Linnets
Avro exited the FA Cup at the Preliminary Round after losing 4-1 to Runcorn Linnets after extra time in the replay.
Kai Haigh was substituted early on the game after picking up a injury, Jack Morrow came on in his place.
Avro had some good chances in the first half, Danny Byrnes finding himself inside the box and forcing the keeper to make a good save.
Another was when Potts was let loose down the left, gave it to Byrnes who was tackled just before he could get a shot off.
