Operation Bluefin continues across Wigan to reduce Anti Social Behaviour

Officers across Wigan alongside Wigan's Community Safety Partnership have continued their response to anti-social behaviour (ASB) under Operation Bluefin to support communities across the district.
The operation started at the beginning of March and has resulted in a number of interventions with young people found to be engaging in ASB.
Over 400 contact cards have been issued to young people with almost 300 warning letters sent to parents who children have been seen to be causing disruption to communities in key hotspot locations.
Contact cards highlight to partner agencies young people who are found to be involved in ASB. They act as a pathway for potential warning letters, home visits or referrals to other agencies for further support.

Greater Manchester Police Reopening
GMP Museum is excited to announce a new exhibition to coincide with the reopening of the building to the public on 7 September 2021.
Located in the first gallery on the ground floor, the new exhibition focuses on the beginnings of the police in Manchester and how the force is organised, including fascinating pictures and information on how law enforcement has changed since Victorian times.
The museum, housed in a former police station in the Northern Quarter dating to 1879, regularly features among lists of Manchester’s top tourist attractions.
You can see what it was like for ne’er do wells of yesteryear by experiencing a stint in some century-old prison cells and where justice was meted out in an on-site Magistrates’ Court dating to 1895.

More horrible racism mars comfortable England win in Hungary
Football Governing body Fifa has opened disciplinary proceedings after racist abuse was aimed at England players during Thursday's 4-0 win over Hungary in a World Cup qualifier in Budapest.
Manchester City's Raheem Sterling was one of the players targeted alongside Dortmund's Jude Bellingham. England players were also pelted with objects in the second half and a flare was thrown on the pitch by the home fans at Puskas Arena.
Outside of the horrific scenes on the terrace, England put in a fine second half performance. Sterling scored alongside Manchester United captain Harry Maguire.
